OPD Launches Citizens Police Academy

Classes Held on Tuesdays Starting March 10
The Ogden Police Department (OPD) is excited to announce the return of the OPD Citizens Police Academy, a community-focused program designed to give residents an inside look at their local law enforcement. For the first time in decades, this popular program is back, and spots are limited. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply soon.
“The Citizens Police Academy is an excellent way for community members to get involved and gain a better understanding of what the OPD does each day,” said Ogden Police Chief Travis Gray. “We are proud to bring this program back as a way to strengthen relationships, build trust, and provide transparency into the work our officers do to keep our community safe.”
The academy gives participants the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities, duties, and challenges faced by Ogden Police officers. Through a series of engaging sessions led by OPD personnel, attendees will explore a wide range of topics and gain insight into how the Police Department serves and protects the community.
“I want to thank Chief Gray and all OPD personnel for going above and beyond to revive this program,” said Ogden Town Supervisor Mike Zale. “They are eager to lead these sessions and share their knowledge, which reflects their passion for their work and dedication to our community. This is an incredible opportunity for our residents, so if you are interested, apply soon before spots are filled.”
The Citizens Police Academy will begin on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Classes will be held every Tuesday evening from 7 to 10:00 p.m. and will run through May 5, 2026, at Ogden Town Hall.
